ABOUT US

Why name a church LIGHTHOUSE in the middle of the Rocky Mountain Region? Here are a few reasons:

A Lighthouse exists not for itself, but to guide and save others.... For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. 1 Cor. 10:33.

A Lighthouse stands strong and stable in the midst of storms. Jesus Christ is the solid rock upon which we're building our lives, and by trusting in him we are finding a firm foundation on which to stand.

Lighthouses demonstrate that the greater the darkness the brighter the light shines. God's truth revealed in the Bible, functions as a light for our path, guiding us through the confusion and chaos of modern society.

LIFE AT THE LIGHTHOUSE

At Lighthouse Worship Center you will be able to worship God in spirit and in truth and you will receive practical, relevant Bible teaching and training on a variety of real-life issues. We offer Sunday morning worship at 10:30 am and a mid-week home group service (call for location and time).

We endeavor to create a church culture where:

Pemaquid Point, with its dramatic streaks of granite reaching to the sea, squeezed and shaped by massive movements thousands of years ago, would be a fascinating place to visit even without its pretty white lighthouse. The spot is one of the most visited attractions of the Maine coast, receiving about 100,000 visitors each year.

The light at Pemaquid was originally built during the presidency of John Quicy Adams, in 1827, at a cost of $2,800. Faulty construction was blamed for the quick deterioration of the tower, which was rebuilt with double walls in 1835. The tower is only 38 ft tall, but it's placement on a rock ledge gives the light a 79 ft. focal plane. Flashing a white light every 6 seconds, Pemaquid's fourth-order fresnel is visible for 14 miles.

Pemaquid’'s rugged point is a wonderful spot for solitary reflection as the sun, the sea, and the lighthouse beacon perform their timeless cycles. A visit to Pemaquid Point wouldn't be complete without touring the lighthouse keeper's home, now converted into a fisherman's museum. The collection includes memorabilia from the local maritime industry past and present. There's even a Fresnel lens from the lighthouse at Baker Island. Nearby is an art gallery, founded in 1960 by a group of local artists.
